Below are letters of Happy King Owners or potential King owners.
Debbie, just a quick update from Max's second show - and first Rarities, Inc.
The weekend was a 6 show medley. There were not many in the herding group, only 4 so the points were not great (if I understand them). It was a mini and toy Australian Shepherd specialty and there were a lot of those! Anyway, Max got 1 first in group (sorry, no best in show or reserve), 2 seconds, 1 third, and 2 fourths. If I am correct, I think he earned 8 points toward both his American and his Canadian championship. I think he must be a good representative as people always stop to ask me his breed, to pet him, etc. One little girl over the weekend came over and sat next to him and played with his coat for about 10 minutes. She loved pushing it one way and then another, fascinated by its texture and sheen. Max, of course, also loved the attention and laid there contentedly.
Thanks for the info if you have any for me. Max, as you can tell, is doing great.
We may try to make the Rarities show in Seattle, Wash. in Aug. as that is the only other one within 10 hours or more for us but my son is getting married the following weekend so I don't know. If we miss it, we probably won't get to try to finish Max's championships until next year.
Will keep you in touch, Catherine

May 5, 2006 (Max CH.Shadow/CH.Tia 07/15/2005 litter)

Thanks for checking in. I hope Shelley told you how very pleased we were with the puppy handling you did with Max from the very beginning. It was very obvious that he had been handled ALOT! He loves massages and being handled.
He did well at the show. It was a first time experience for both of us but he pulled it through. Had some trouble by the end of the second day (by 5:30 after starting at 7:00 from home) he was tired and didn't show very well in the Best of Show or Best Rare Breed Puppy but I am sure it was probably more my fault than his as I was EXHAUSTED from all the activity and waiting around. It was a beautiful day in Albany, Oregon, though and we came home winners and that was what mattered. We didn't take any show pictures(maybe next time)but we took two yesterday that can give a bit of an idea how he looks. He gets comments everywhere we go and you are getting fabulous advertisement from him. You should have a zillion hits on the website. My husband said we should have had cards made up to send them to Royal Majesty and Chateau de Chief as well as the AKSC website. We are here if you need anyone to come to see him, just let us know so w e can be home. Catherine and Gary Tierney

Dear Debbie,
Just wanted to drop you a note and a few pictures of Tinkerbell. The first two pictures were taken today and the last one was about a month ago. Tinkerbell is just a wonderful puppy. She is housebroken already (hurray!!!) and knows how to "sit" and "come." We've been working with a dog trainer every couple of weeks and she gives us great tips. Tink has a great personality. She's very sweet and cuddly and wants to please her humans. She "talks" when she has to go out and when we're getting her food bowl ready.

Anyway, we just wanted to let you know that she's doing well and we love her very much-what a great dog! I wish we had enough room for another one like her.

On a sad note, we had to say goodbye to our old friend Bamse the other day. We were lucky to have 14 FBD wonderful years with him. Tink misses him a little, but mostly she seems happy to not have to try and protect her toys and treats.

Have a happy holiday!

Dear Debbie:

I wanted to take a few minutes to describe my experience with you & your family of King Shepherds. My husband had been researching different dog breeds for a playmate for our puppy. We had intended to bring her a playmate this spring. She passed away unexpectdly & we decided to begin our pursuit of another puppy to help us cope with our loss. When my husband came across photos of King Shepherds he was amazed at their beauty. At this point the research process began. He was so enamored of the breed & apparent closeness of the breeders & the intention of having only well adjusted, sweet family dogs w/few of the health issues that are linked w/the standard American shepherd.

I decided to continue the research he had begun because I was uncertain of managing a dog this large. I was very cautious as I have a young child & a teenager & many guests & children in my home on a daily basis.

When I saw your website & phoned to chat, I was astonished at how quickly you returned my call. You were very patient & understanding w/me & discussed all my concerns in an Objective Manner. You offered a visit to your home to spend time with your Kings & encouraged me to look at any & all breeders & information that would be available.

During our visit you went to extra-ordinary effort to show us the many different personalities of your dogs. When you took me into your home to see how large they are inside, I was pleased to see that they were comfortable with guests & particularly adoring & patient w/my daughter. When Shadow leaned into Michael like he was a door stop, I knew the kids were in LOVE. I was particulary pleased w/the laid back attitude of all the Kings. After several hours in your home, I knew that the King Shepherds were the breed for me.

I will never forget that your first priority was to provide me w/information to make a sound decision that was best for my family. In addition, knowing my wish for a puppy as soon as possible, you helped me coordinate w/Shelley to see that we were happy. I expect my puppy to be born shortly & come home to us in early April. If all works out the way I hope, perhaps a Royal Majesty King Shepherd will be in our future as well.

Thanks again for your input, assistance and support!

Liz Ficarra & Family.

Dear Debbie,

I just wanted to thank you & your husband for giving Cecilia & I the opportunity to learn more about the King Shepherd breed of dog. The pictures I saw on the internet website were not even close to the true beauty & outstanding nature of the animal. I was truely amazed. I was impressed with not only their intelligence, size & beauty, but I was overwhelmed with their affection. Thank you again and I look forward to becoming part of the King Shepherd family.

Sincerely,
Dennis

Dear Debbie,
Hi. I hope you are well. I just wanted to give you an update on Reagan. He has been "home" for 2 1/2 weeks now and has already won the hearts of everyone who meets him. He is so sweet and smart. We adore him. He has instantly become best friends with our 5 year old and has become our 10 year old's baby. They will go out in the backyard with Reagan and play for hours.
He is so smart that he was walking on a leash his first day home. He now knows his name, "come" and "stay". He is working on "off", "sit", and "No Bite" now. His personality is amazing, and I honestly can say that he is the best puppy I have ever had.
Thank you so much for giving us our Baby. I will follow up with pictures when my home computer is repaired.

Hi Debbie,

Just thought I would drop you a quick note to let you know that Harlee is doing great. He is growing like a weed, his legs and body have gotten much longer, so he now looks more like a puppy than a bear cub! He also has some really neat markings starting to develop. We go to meet a new vet on Thursday so I'll let you know his weight after that.

I finally got some recent pictures - I was having trouble getting ones that weren't a blur from his quick & constant movements, or the camera was adjusting for his blackness and making everything else too bright.

I hope everything is going well for you - hugs to all,

Mary

P.S. We changed the spelling of HARLEE's name - it is now a combination of HARold and Mary LEE - why not!

Dear Debbie & Eddie,

My family and I would like to say a special word of thanks for this little angel, Sirius Star.
She just turned 10 weeks old and she is a precious new member of our family.
We have 2 older dogs, ages 5 and 7 who have welcomed her into their pack.
She is energetic and playful, so she is keeping all of us on our toes.
Our veterinarian commented on what a sweet disposition she has and said that she is in excellent health.
As you told us, she is VERY bright. She comes to her name, and knows the commands for sit, down, roll over & speak. She is quite vocal and expresses herself well. She already goes to the door and barks to be let out.
We look forward to working with her in obedience training. We know she will be the "Star" of the class.
I would recommend Royal Majesty King Shepherds to anyone who is looking for a gentle, intelligent shepherd for their family with a warm & loving nature.

Sincerely,
Don, Renee, Chris, Smokey, Scout & Star

Dear Debbie,

Good to hear from you, as always. I can't understand why you would be SO BUSY... just kidding of course, I really don't know how you manage so many pups.

Harlee is doing fantastic! He seems to have learned his place in the family and now listens exceptionally well. He hasn't lost his attitude though, he will obey but sometimes lets you know if he isn't pleased about doing so! He really seems to be trying to talk and just cracks me up!

He is looking so AWESOME (I'll send a new pic soon) - he is getting really tall and lean, at least 22" and 45 lbs. I switched him to a completely RAW diet almost 2 weeks ago, and the change is amazing. For starters, he loves the food, and his coat has become so shiny! We were at the vet on Wed., and she said he is the healthiest & happiest puppy that she's seen in a long time. She said you can look at his eyes and see how healthy he is, and he is so happy that he is almost smiling - he obviously hasn't had a moment of trauma in his life! I am sharing the compliment with you as you had him the first half of his life....

He was such a riot when we arrived at the clinic - I wish you could have seen him! This clinic is staffed by women only, 5 or 6, including the 2 vets. The first time we went there, everyone was waiting to see their first 'King' so he immediately got A LOT of attention. The second time, they were so amazed at how much he had grown in 2 weeks that they all rushed to see him. On Wed., the other vet was talking to a lady at the counter, and everyone else was busy elsewhere. Harlee walked in, looked around, sat and let out his 'woo, woo, woo' as if to say "I'm here - come pay your respects", and amazingly they all came running to say hello, just as if they understood what he was saying! The vet even left her customer to come say hello and apologized for not greeting him sooner... No wonder he looks so happy!

Well, it's time to get back to work - I am busy harvesting and processing veggies for His Majesty. Right now this diet seems to be a lot of work, but soon it will just be a matter of defrosting each meal. Lee & Erin have been out fishing, and so far there is at least 50 lbs. of salmon (his favorite) ready for him. I am doing everything myself - grinding both the muscle and organ meat, adding the veggies, fruit, and supplements, etc.

Bye for now,

Mary

Hi Debbie,

I hope you had a great Easter. I just thought I would share an amazingly sweet moment with you, as I know it will touch you too.

Lee & Erin came for dinner on Sunday. She looks great but tired - getting up too often during the night to pee.... Anyway, even though Lee & Harold were outside, and Harlee always wants to be out - I found him sitting at the door wanting to come in. When I let him in he ran right to Erin, even though they had already had a big hello, and he stayed close to her. That's not really unusual because she really loves animals and they are always attracted to her in turn. The sweet moment came while she was relaxing on the couch and Harlee gently laid his head on her belly and just looked up at her with those eyes, then rubbed his head from one side of her belly to the other. I'm positive that he already senses the baby and wants the baby to know him even before he/she is born! Wish I had had the camera handy....

The sweet brat seems to be doing great these days. His appetite hasn't returned to what it was, but maybe it is what it should be now. He isn't getting thinner, and his growth rate has slowed down. It was just the sudden change that had me a little worried. I measured him recently and he hasn't grown taller since early Feb. (although everyone seems to think that he has) but he looks longer to me. I plan to stop at the vet clinic later this week and will weigh him, and let you know.

Gotta go for now - hugs to all,

Mary
