King's Royal Guard Schutzhund Club
The KRGSC (King's Royal Guard Schutzhund Club) is a member of the KG North, which is the US Northern Representative Branch that is recognized in Germany. All King Shepherds that are training to compete in Schutzhund are members of the KRGSC and are registered with the KG North, which registers each dog participating in Schutzhund are also registered in Germany. Each dog will have an "Ofiicial Score Book" for that particular dog and owner. All scores are recorded in the "Score Book" and are also recorded in Germany.
King Shepherds will be competing in the "Mixed Breed Catagory" do to the SV in Germany not recognizing breeds that are "derived" from the German Shepherd Dog. King Shepherds are "Eligible" for the same titles as recognized breeds. We just have to compete under a different catagory.
All points earned at matches, all titles earned, owners, & dogs records are all registered in Germany.
The "First Title" any dog (King Shepherd or other breed) must earn before being "eligible to compete in or for a SCH I is the BH Title (SCH. Obedience & TT Title.) The KRGSC hopes that 5 or more of our King Shepherd representatives and owners will be "ready :-)" to compete in our first match sometime in March 2008.
King Shepherds must be willingly obedient to their owner/handler and show enthusiasm to please. They must learn to "Track" a scent. And the favorite part, that all the dogs seem to "LOVE" the most and "HAVE THE MOST FUN" is the "bite work" (learning to bite the sleeve, hold on, OUT when told, bark & keep threat at bay, run after threat and apprehend when told, or back off of threat when told, etc.) The dogs and the handlers seem to enjoy the "bite work" training part of Schutzhund the most. One "misrepresentation" of the "sport" of Schutzhund, most seem to think it will "make their dog 'mean'." No, in reality, it trains & teaches the owners/handlers how to control what comes "NATURALLY" to dogs. Schutzhund is a "Sport" unlike Police Protection Training where a dog takes a "suspect down." Schutzhund is "FUN" for all involved, but more so for the dogs, because they are developing their natural instincts and being aloud to use them. And owner/handlers are learning how to control & train those "NATRUAL INSTINCTS" that "every dog" possess.
The KRGSC was developed to "show" that a King Shepherd is not only a Great Family Companion, Show Dog, Therapy dog, Service Dog and Obedience dog... but is also able to be a "Sound Working Dog." The sport of Schutzhund is a demanding sport that takes patience on the part of the owner/handler/trainers, but also is demanding on the mind of the dog. It is a fun sport for all involved, but takes a lot of "committment" for anyone interested in training for the sport of Schutzhund. A SCH III Title is the "Hardest" title to earn for any dog of any breed.
