Titles and what they mean
I am sure that most people are wondering what all the intials are at the beginning and end of a dogs' name mean. I have created this page to give a brief explanation of the intials & their meanings to help people learn & better understand what all those intials stand for infront of and behind a dogs' name.

The list of intials that are infront of a dogs' name and their meanings:

AKSC CH.: American King Shepherd Club (The one and only "original HOME club" of the King Shepherd). Means that said dog/bitch has earned 15 points (5 points & 3 points are considered "major wins") to become a "HOME" club Champion; which is the most important and hardest Championship title to achieve/earn.

ASKC ChPdt.: Means a dog/bitch has points toward its AKSC Championship Title.

AKSC GRND. MON. CH.: Means Amercian King Shepherd Club "Grand Monarch Champion". That dog/bitch has earned the "highest number of points"; has defeated the highest number of dogs/bitches in the Breed Ring" for the end of that given year to be ranked The #1 AKSC King Shepherd for that specific year. Both a 1 male and 1 female King Shepherd will be awarded a Grand Monarch Title from the American King Shepherd Club (AKSC) at the end of the AKSC Show season (October is the end of the AKSC Show Year).

AKSC Rsve. Grnd. Mon. CH.: Means the AKSC Reserve "Runner up" to the Grand Monarch Champion for that given year. The dog & bitch who has the second highest number of points for dogs/bitches defeated in the Breed Ring. Both 1 male and 1 female are given this award by the American King Shepherd Club at the end of each AKSC Show year (October is the end of the AKSC Show year.)

AKSC SPRM. GRND. MON. CH.: Means that said dog/bitch has earned the Grand Monarch Title 3 times and has achieved/earned the "highest number of points"; dogs/bitches defeated in the Breed Ring to earn the prestigious title of AKSC Supreme Grand Monarch Champion of that said year. 1 male King Shepherd & 1 female King Shepherd can be given this award if they accomplish this task in the same ending year. This is the "Hardest" Club Title to acieve/earn in a King Shepherd's show career. (October is the end of the AKSC Show Year.)

BISS: Best In Specialty Show. Means a dog/bitch has earned either 1 Best of Breed (BOB) or 1 Best of Opposite Sex (BOS) award at an AKSC Sanctioned Specialty Show.

MBISS: "Multiple" Best In Specialty Show. Means a dog/bitch has earned either Multiple Best of Breed (BOB) Awards or Multiple Best of Opposite Sex BOS) awards at an AKSC Sanctioned Specialty Show.

Rarities ChPdt.: Means the dog/bitch has points towards one of the Rarities Championship Titles (American Championship, Canadian Championship or the combined-American & Canadian Championship which is the Rarities Int'l Championship Title.)

Rarities Int'l CH.: Is ONE CHAMPIOBSHIP TITLE not three titles in one. Rarities Int'l CH. means a dog/bitch has earned the Rarities American & Canadian Championships Combined.

Rarities Int'l & Grnd. CH.: Means a dog/bitch has defeated 15 Rarities Champions to become a Rarities GRAND CHAMPION.

Rarities Sprm Grnd. CH.: Means a dog/bitch has "defeated" 15 Rarities GRAND CHAMPIONS to become a Rarities Supreme Grand Champion.

ARBA CH.: Means a dog/bitch has Completed the ARBA Championship of Beauty Award to become an ARBA Champion.

ARBA MASTER CHAMPION: A dog/bitch "must be an 'ARBA CHAMPION' and no younger than '15 months of age' to be eligible for testing for the ARBA MASTER CHAMPION TITLE". The dog/bitch is judged by itself to the DOGS BREED STANDARD (Stacked & Free Stacked moving in any direction the judge instructs handler,) by four judges on Breed Structure, Movement, Appearance, and all Around Breed Type is;(Bone, Head, Body proportion; which is-(Weight, Rear, front, length of kneck, croupe,etc.), color, coat type & length, number of teeth, & height). A dog/bitch must have a score no lower than 83 out 99 to become an ARBA MASTER CHAMPION.

BIS: Best In Show. Means a dog/bitch has won "ONE" Adult ALL BREED (Rarities; NAKC or ARBA) Best In Show Award.

MBISS: "Multiple" Best In Show. Means a dog/bitch has won "more" than one ALL BREED (Rarities;NAKC or ARBA) ADULT Best In Show or has won "one" Best In Show from Rarities & won "one" Best In Show from ARBA (2 different Rare Breed Organizations.) Best In Show Wins.

RBIS: Reserve Best In Show; Means a dog/bitch has won "ONE" All Breed RESERVE BEST IN SHOW from either Rarities;NAKC or ARBA.

MRBIS: "Multiple" Reserve Best In Shows; Means a dog/bitch has either won more than one Reserve Best In Show from one ALL Breed Organization (Rarities;NAKC or ARBA) or has won one Reserve Best In Show from Rarities;NAKC & one Reserve Best In Show from ARBA.

JrPBIS: Junior Puppy Best In Show; Means a 6-9 month old has won "ONE" ALL BREED Junior Puppy Best in Show From either RARITIES;NAKC or IBACA. Only the Rarities,NAKC & IBACA (International All Breed Canine Association) offer Junior Puppy Best in Show for 6-9 month dogs/bitches.

MJrPBIS: "Multiple" Junior Puppy Best In Show; Means a 6-9 month old has won "multiple" ALL BREED Junior Puppy Best In Shows from either Rarities;NAKC or IBACA (International All Breed Canine Association.) or won "one" ALL BREED Junior Puppy Best In Show from each organization mentioned (Rarities;NAKC or IBACA).

PBIS: Puppy Best In Show; Means a 3-6 month old puppy has won ONE ALL Breed Puppy Best In Show from either Rarities;NAKC (calls 3-6mos Puppy Best In Show) or ARBA (calls 3-6mos Junior Puppy Best In Show.)

MPBIS: "Multiple" Puppy Best In Shows; Means a 3-6 month old puppy has won more than "one" ALL BREED Puppy Best In Show from either organization mentioned or has won "one" ALL BREED Puppy Best in Show from each organization mentioned; Rarities;NAKC or ARBA.

Intials at the END of a dogs's name:

CGC: Canine Good Citizenship (Shows that the dog is a well behaved & a sound canine citizen and can be trusted in public.)

TT: Temperament Test (Shows that the dog is well behaved & sound in mind in public but will also protect it's owner if need be if the owner is threatened.)

TDI: Therapy Dog International; Means a dog passed the TDI test and is a "certified" therapy dog that can visit people in nursing homes, hospitals, etc.

CD-a: Sub-Novice Obedience Title. (The dog competed & completed 3 legs of an obedience trial with a score no lower than 165 points out of 200 points. All exercises are done with "leash on."

CD- Companion Dog Obedience Title. ( The dog has had to compete & completed 3 legs of Obedience "Without" the leash attached. Must get no lower that 165 points out of 200 points for each leg earned.

HIT: High In Trial (This award is given to the Obedience Dog CD or CD-a with the Highest In Trial Points during the completion of the CD or CD-a title.

ROM: Register of Merit (Given to a male or female who has a certain number of CHAMPION OFFSPRING.

BH: The Schutzhund Obedience Title. A dog must earn a BH Title before the dog can compete for a SCH I title.

SCH I: Obedience, Tracking, & Protection "Entry Level."

SCH II: Obedience, Tracking, & Protection. "Advanced tracking and protection".

SCH III: Obedience, Tracking, & Protection at the "MASTERS LEVEL". The hardest Schutzhund title to achieve.

Penn Hip: Means a dogs hips have been tested by the Penn Hip method. "Three" sets of x-rays are taken of the dogs hips in "three" different positions and graded accordingly to its breed; The DI-(Distraction Index Number; Ex. 0.2) measures the laxticity of how the hips sit in the hip sockets. The lower the score the better. Also, Penn Hip will state NO DJD ( NO Degenerative Joint Disease) or DJD (Degenerative Joint Disease Present.) Or Mild/Moderate Dysplasia seen, or severe/crippling hip dysplasia seen. (The AKSC Recommends this method of hip testing for breeding prospect dogs.)

OFA: Orthopediac Foundation for Animals. "One" x-ray taken of the dogs hips & graded accordingly to its breed. Ratings- Excellent, Good, Fair, and Poor. (Along with Mild/moderate, Severe/Crippling, hip dysplasia; etc.)
